It's all about the scarf

I finally got done with my stockinette scarf and i am very pleased with it. The pattern was simple and straight forward and i think i might want to knit another one in a different color, we shall see.

I started knitting another scarf, this time it's going to be a garter stich pattern which i have done before here but using different yarn and colors.

Ravelry red fingerless mittens

A few weeks ago i saw a fingerless mittens pattern at my local yarn store, it looked simple and i decided to give it a shot. I also wanted to knit using more than two needles that way i can tackle more difficult patterns.  Getting used to four double pointed needles was intimidating at first but i soon got the hang of it.

I used a different yarn this time malabrigo rios, a chose a ravelry red color, the yarn is much thicker and has a nice smooth feel to it. I used crystal palace bamboo double pointed needles, they are light and comfortable to use.

I will keep you posted on my progress, until next time

Knitting for Beginners

When learning a new craft i like to take a physical class, watch videos and read books, i think doing that helps me absorb the information and pick up the craft faster.
I got the book knitting 101 by Carri Hammett at my local craft store, to add to my collection of books for knitters.
I find it very simple and staight forward to understand. It also has a lot of pictures for step by step illustration which i find very helpful. The knitting projects in the book are for beginners and intermediate knitters which i like, so i can keep challenging myself to take on projects that are more difficult.

My green apple stockinette scarf

I wanted to try a new stitch, i have been knitting a lot of the garter stich, so i went with the stockinette stitch which is alternating a knit row with a purl row. I used circular knitting needles this time to get a feel of them as i have never used them before. I actually enjoy using them they are comfortable on the hands. I got to visit a local yarn store this time to purchase the yarn for my scarf, i really liked shopping there the people there were very helpful and there was a variety of yarn to choose from.
