Summer reading

This summer i am venturing into a different genre of books, i picked these up from the local bookstore. I have started on the general's daughter and i am really enjoying it, the last few days have been rather toasty outside so when i am not crafting something new i am into reading.
I have not been knitting as much the last few weeks, sometimes my mind is swirling with just too many ideas, i leave some unfinished and i am already jumping on to the next one, i have been painting  more and will share it with you as soon as i can take some pictures of the project. For now happy summer reading.

Knitting with boucle yarn

I must say when i first saw this yarn i wasn't exactly excited, the colors were rich and beautiful but i thought the texture did not look like ordinary yarn and what would a finished item look like? But i was pleasantly suprised when i touched it, even though the texture of the yarn did not look smooth it felt very soft to the touch, and i had to get a few skeins.

So i did a bit of research and found out that boucle yarn is a combination of two strands and one of the strands is made loose than the other which makes the yarn look loopy thus the uneven texture. The yarn apart from being soft is also very light and fluffy, and i must say the different colors blend in very well.

I decide to use the yarn to make a cowl, it is a blend of red, a bit of gold and burgandy, very rich colors i can hardly wait to see how it turns out.
